Indicators that your PC is slowing down

It’s common for computers to start slowing down whether its a new or old PC, its also a common misconception that new computers don’t slow down and only old ones do.

Yes it’s more likely for an old computer to slow down, but no computer is safe from the dangers of “Sluggishness”.  In this article I will explore some signs that might indicate your computer is becoming sluggish (slow).

Sign 1: It takes longer to do common computer tasks

If something you do on the computer say for example opening “Windows Media Player” used to take 30 seconds but it now takes a minute or more than this is a sign your PC is becoming sluggish.

Sign 2: Your PC takes longer to start

It’s normal for a computer to take a little bit of time to start-up (boot), say a minute or two, but if it takes longer than usual something might be wrong.

Sign 3: Lengthy periods of freezing (computer not responding)

The majority of freeze-ups are caused by applications taking a long time to perform a task, given long enough the PC will probably become unfrozen and start working again.

Sign 4: Opening two or more programs at the same time was no problem in the past, but now it is
If your computer runs fine when running a single program but when you have second program open (or third… and so on) your PC is slower. This problem is normally related to not having enough memory (virtual or RAM).
